First frost of the year today! 10/19/2021. Light frost that melted off pretty quick. No delay necessary. We hope to have some warmer weather coming our way, and hope it stays for a while. Frost is just as unwanted for the Agronomy team as it is for golfers.

Luckily this was a wet frost, and the ryegrass is still actively growing, so any damage that may have occurred from cart traffic will grow out and recover quickly. We are applying fertilizer to fairways, greens, and catching up on mowing before a full course shotgun at 8:30am tomorrow. Frost delays can really put a damper on course set up and preparations, and if I feel that we can safely continue with minimal to no damage and no delay, we will always choose that option. Delays are only called when absolutely necessary, for the health of the golf course.
