The ryegrass is getting fuller by the day. We are doing our first mow on all fairways and approaches today.
The lower holes, #1-8 always do better with ryegrass. They get more protection from the wind, go into shade earlier, and are cooler at night with the lower elevation. The holes that struggle the most are typically #13-18. They get wind in the afternoons making it more difficult to hold moisture, as well as more heat and sunlight later into the day. Overall, the overseed is coming in well. The first mow looks good, and the ryegrass will now begin to thicken, growing more leaf blades per plant. About 1 new blade per week moving forward for the next month or two is what we hope for.
